Installation of the bera package.

bash-5.1$ mkdir -p ~/texmf/fonts/{type1/public/bera,afm/public/bera}
bash-5.1$ mv *.afm ~/texmf/fonts/afm/public/bera
bash-5.1$ mv *.pfb ~/texmf/fonts/type1/public/bera
bash-5.1$ updmap-user --quiet --enable Map=bera.map
Creating new config file /home/eric/.texlive2023/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg
bash-5.1$

When upgrading texlive via slackpkg delete ~/.texlive2023 and rerun the updmap-user command.

I used to supplant Slackware's tetex package with the SlackBuilds.org texlive package.
